What is Aquatic Therapy?
Aquatic therapy – also known as hydrotherapy – takes place in the pool with a hands-on practitioner. We are so excited to be offering aquatic therapy, as a safe and effective complement in the rehabilitation of people with injuries, chronic pain, and other conditions (such as fibromyalgia, joints’ replacement, MS, amputation, pregnancy pain and discomfort, and more).
It can also be used to supplement conventional physiotherapy and athletic therapy for people recovering from injury. It is also used to improve the motor skills of infants and toddlers and to help strengthen the bodies and spirits of children with autism, cerebral palsy, and developmental delays. It is safe, relaxing, and pain-free. You do not need to know how to swim to benefit from aquatic therapy. The treatment is one-on-one, for 30 minutes. It takes place at our Kenaston location.
Who is Aqua Therapy For?
Aqua Therapy is for anyone! You actually do not need to know how to swim in order to benefit from it. It is for all ages, ranging from infants to individuals in their nineties. Each session is customized to meet every individual’s needs, regardless of age or swimming experience. Before the session, Sophy will go over your goals, expectations, and condition to come up with the best treatment plan for your needs!
What Do I Bring To Aqua Therapy?
When you come for Aqua Therapy, all you need is the following: swim suit OR shorts and a t-shirt, a change of clothes for after treatment, a towel, and pool shoes (in case of any balance issues). Other than that, as long as you remember to bring yourself, you are ready for a calming experience.
